A water-soluble powder insecticide for the control of pests on crops as indicated.

Cereals
  • METHOMYL 90 SP is an IRAC group code 1A insecticide.
  • METHOMYL 90 SP is a cholinesterase inhibitor, with contact and stomach action against African bollworm
    (Helicoverpa armigera) in wheat.
  • METHOMYL 90 SP has a short withholding period of 7 days.
  • Rapidly degraded to CO2 and acetonitrile, with incorporation into natural plant components.
  • Apply at first signs of infestation of African bollworm.
  • Integrate other control methods (chemical, cultural and biological) into insect control programme to limit resistance development.
  • Red label insecticide – take care in use and be environmentally conscious.

Wheat
- 200 g/ha METHOMYL 90 SP (Aerial and Ground Application)
OR
- 50 g METHOMYL 90 SP per 100 ℓ water (apply in up to 400 ℓ/ha spray mixture)

Citrus
  • A water-soluble powder insecticide with contact and stomach action for the control of a wide spectrum of citrus pests including: aphids, mealy bug, African bollworm, red scale, soft green scale, waxy scale and orange dog caterpillar.
  • A carbamate insecticide: IRAC Group code 1A.
  • Cholinesterase inhibitor. Interferes with nervous system of insect.
  • Systemic insecticide with contact and stomach action.
  • Controls aphids, African bollworm, mealybugs, red scale, orange dog caterpillars, soft green scale and waxy scale.
  • Effective as a corrective application for the control of red scale.
  • Short withholding period. 2 days (20g rate), 28 days (dosage higher than 20g).
  • Very toxic.
  • Application must be performed with high-pressure compressor-type handguns for the control of red scale.
  • Application must be performed when the presence of young nymphs of scale or mealybug are observed.
  • Ensure thorough wetting of all parts of the plant.
  • Regular monitoring of orchards is essential.

African bollworm and aphids: 20 g/100 ℓ - Apply as a light cover spray when aphids and/or larvae appear - Orange dog: 25 g/100 ℓ - Apply as a light cover spray as soon as larvae are noticed.
Red scale: 100 g plus 3 ℓ narrow range oil. Apply when 25 to 40 % of the fruit is infested with one or more live nymphs or adult scales.
Mealybug: 20 g/100 ℓ - Apply as a full cover spray with a high-pressure sprayer as soon as young nymphs appear on the fruit.
Soft green scale: 20 g/100 ℓ plus 500 mℓ narrow range oil - Apply as a full cover spray with a high-pressure sprayer.
Waxy scale: 25 g/100 ℓ - Apply as a full cover spray with a high-pressure pump.

Maize
  • METHOMYL 90 SP belongs to the carbamates chemical group.
  • Broad spectrum insecticide.
  • Contact, translaminar as well as systemic.
  • Low dosage rates required (50 g/ha) for effective control.
  • Rapid knockdown (paralysis, thus insects stop feeding, followed by eventual death) and good residual activity
(active for longer periods of time).
  • Has insecticidal activity on a number of different insect pests.
  • Highly effective; controls the pest even when hidden and moves to the growing tips to protect new growth.
  • Less packaging material is required and is safer for the environment.
  • Apply at first signs of infestation of African bollworm.
  • Integrate other control methods (chemical, cultural and biological) into insect control programme to limit resistance development.
  • Repeat applications if necessary.
  • If larvae have entered the cob, then the METHOMYL 90 SP application will not be effective; thus ensure that application is done as soon as larvae are observed on silks.
  • Ensure 7 day withholding period before harvest or grazing of maize and sorghum.

African bollworm
- 200 g/ha METHOMYL 90 SP (applied in 30 ℓ of water per hectare for aerial applications)
- 200 g/ha METHOMYL 90 SP (applied in 100 to 200 ℓ of water per hectare for ground applications) or 50 g METHOMYL 90 SP per 100ℓ water (apply in up to 400 ℓ spray mixture per hectare)
